I just attended Bill Inmon's class on Unstructured ETL, and I must say it's VERY interesting. I believe that UD ETL is necessary to begin to tap the information stored in unstructured data. What's really cool is the way Bill's tool (Forest Rim Technologies) actually pulls information, makes assertions around it and puts it in an OLTP type database. While I cannot talk about specific features or how it works, I can say this: it's not your Google's search tool!
It seems people have taken the term "Dynamic Data Warehousing" and abused it. They've made it out to be about "Dynamic Data" and completely ignored "Dynamic Modeling", or dynamic restructuring as the case may be. Automorphic means self-changing, self-adapting. In this entry we'll talk about different capabilities of Dynamic Data Warehousing and the changes to data models as they grow.
There are rumblings coming from certain parts of the market about not needing or wanting data modeling skills. One particular vendor is very bold in their marketing statements. This is all fine and dandy until...
